A 36-year-old Greek and his 37-year-old Romanian wife have been sentenced to 14 years in jail for the brutal abuse of their two young children.
The sentencing occurred in an appeals court in Thessaloniki.
According to information released from the case file, the family had been residing in a village outside of Katerini where the two young children, a 9-year-old boy and 8-year-old girl were forced by their parents to commit robberies and were reported to be severely beaten if they returned empty-handed.
There was medical evidence presented with the case that led to the conviction of the parents which detailed the two children having multiple abrasions, fractures and burns. The children have been placed in foster care and there is no further information available at this time.
