80s exhibit in gaziAn exhibit titled Greece of the 1980s at Technopolis will be taking place at the Technopolis Cultural Complex in Gazi, Athens opening on January 25, 2017.
The exhibit will highlight an array of topics from politics, ideology, society, mainstream and alternative culture and subculture to film, language, architecture, decoration, media and even a typical 1980s apartment in Greece.
This flashback to the 80s is a special exhibit in that the organizers are encouraging the public to get involved and share their personal items from the era. Everything such as tangible goods, photos, audio and video are welcome submissions that are currently being accepted on the events official webpage and social media.
“I am excited,” said academic and co-organizer Panayis Panayiotopoulos to the Greek newspaper Kathimerini. “It will be the first major participatory exhibition. The event will bring together different generations while highlighting the tension and relationship between them.”
“Contemporary history is tucked away in drawers and crawl spaces. We are inviting people to open these and take part in the exhibition with their own personal items,” he added.
