Bomb Farce Delays Crucial Council of State Session in Greece

sddc3A bomb threat, that proved to be a farce, delayed Friday’s crucial Council of State session that would decide on the controversial broadcasting licensing issue.
Greece’s highest administrative had convened to decide on the appeals of television station owners who consider that the passing of the television licensing authority solely to the hands of State Minister Nikos Pappas is unconstitutional.
However, at 10:07 am and 10:09 am a man called To Vima and Efimerida ton Syntakton newspapers respectively saying that a bomb will explode at the Council of State building in 45 minutes.
The session was interrupted after the phone calls. Police evacuated the area around the building on Panepistimiou Street in central Athens. The bomb squad unit with trained dogs searched the building and surrounding areas, but no bomb was found.
After it was confirmed that the bomb threat was a farce, the Council of State session resumed.
