Anastasiades Calls Meeting With Nuland 'Satisfactory'

nulandU.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland had a meeting with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades on Thursday morning, followed by a meeting with Turkish-Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.
The meeting lasted one and a half hours and Nuland did not make any statements following the event.
CNA has learned that she may be returning to the Presidential Palace later in the day for a second meeting with the President. Nuland is set to see the Turkish-Cypriot leader for a second time later on in the day as well.
Nuland, who arrived on the island on Tuesday, had a meeting with FM Ioannis Kasoulides and is scheduled to meet UNSG Special Envoy Espen Barth Eide as well during her visit to Cyprus.
In a brief statement to the press right after the meeting, the President said that it was very satisfactory and that he had the chance “to discuss our positions.”
