OAEE, the social security fund for self-employed workers is asking for financial assistant from the Social Security Capital for the Solidarity of Generations (AKAGE) in paying its pensions.
Reportedly, this week the OAEE board submitted a request to AKAGE in the amount of 200 million euros to help cover the payment of pensions. The information could not be confirmed.
Previous reports by OAEE claim that debts to the social security fund have reached close to 11 billion euros as many self-employed do not or cannot afford to pay into the fund.
Last month it was reported that OAEE requested 150 million euros to help assist in paying its pensions.
The special reserves of AKAGE total around 400 million euros and now both submissions for assistance have been forwarded to the Labor Ministry for review and a decision is expected by the end of 2016.
