Polish Runner Radzikowski Wins 245.3km Spartathlon Race

radzikowski spartathalonThe 34th Spartathlon race was won on Saturday by the Polish runner, Andrzej Radzikowski.
Radzikowski completed the 245.3 kilometer historic race that traverses everything from vineyards and olive groves to trails and an over-night run over Mount Parthenon climbing some 1,200 meters.
The 35-year-old completed the amazing trek in 23 hours, 1 minute and 13 seconds. In 2015 he finished in 18th place and in 2014 he came in third place.
The historical path taken in the race starts at the Acropolis in Athens on Friday and ends the following day in the Greek town of Sparta. This year 392 runners took part in the run.
Other notable mentions are Italy’s 39-year-old Marco Bonfiglio completing the race in 23:35.14 to take second, in third place was 42-year-old Radek Brunner of the Czech Republic with 24:06.39 and 37-year-old American Katalyn Nagy was the first woman to cross the finish line, claiming fourth place for the second year in a row.
