Greek Police Arrest 22 Protesters Staging Sit-in at Hellenic American Union

ellinoamerikaniki-thumb-largeGreek Police arrested 22 anarchists who staged a sit-in at the Hellenic American Union in central Athens early Monday morning.
At 8 am on Monday, the protesters blocked the entrance of the institute at Kolonaki and opened a banner expressing solidarity to prisoners in the U.S.A.
“Solidarity to the prisoners in the struggle against slavery in U.S. prisons”, the banner read.
Police arrived shortly and arrested 22 protesters who were taken to the Athens police headquarters.
A group called “Solidarity assembly for political prisoners, imprisoned and persecuted fighters” took responsibility for the action in a statement posted in anarchist website athens.indymedia.org. They also call for a demonstration in front of the U.S. Embassy in Athens on October 1.
