Increase in VAT Revenues as August Targets are Surpassed

Cash
VAT revenues increased significantly in August, surpassing monthly budget targets, while in the January-August period revenues surpassed targets by 3.01%.
Both the Finance Ministry and the Secretariat-General for Public Revenue expressed satisfaction over the increase of VAT revenue which is attributed largely to a significant crack down of intensified controls by tax authorities on the Greek islands during the summer season.
In Mykonos, VAT receipts surpassed monthly targets by 170.1 percent, in Rhodes by165.6 percent, in Santorini 114.4 percent, in Zakynthos by 91.2 percent, in Corfu 78.6 percent, in Chania 53.7 percent and in Heraklio 51.7 percent.
VAT revenues surpassed monthly targets by 9.91% in August, while net regular budget revenue also surpassed monthly targets last month despite the fact that collection of an ENFIA property tax was postponed for September.
