President Anastasiades Says he 'Gave a Clear Picture' at the National Council Meeting

cyprus presidentPresident Nicos Anastasiades has said that he gave a clear picture about the negotiations, during the three-hour meeting of the National Council.
Asked after the three-hour meeting of the National Council on Wednesday whether he has given reassurances to the political leaders, the President pointed out that this is up to the goodwill showed by each one of the said leaders.
Replying to another question whether he feels any pressure in view of the meeting he will have in NYC with UNSG and the Turkish-Cypriot leader, he said “No, I do not feel any pressure.”
Commenting on if the parties have helped him with contributions, President Anastasiades said that all interventions are always useful, as long as we all understand that some do not have more privileges than others.
Anastasiades has been engaged in peace talks with Turkish-Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, under the UN-led talks, with the aim to reunite Cyprus under a federal roof. The island has been divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion.
