On August 30, “Dancing With the Stars” announced their new lineup for the upcoming 23rd season, and one of the usual mainstays of the dance competition, Mark Ballas, was noticeably missing from the list.
Ballas uploaded a photo of a handwritten note on Instagram, apologizing to his fans about his absence. He thanks his fans for all their support and stated, “I know many of you are concerned and curious. I want to wish my DWTS comrades luck this season. I’ll miss competing and creating outside the box.”
Over the last few months, Ballas has experienced a lot of changes in his life, including his engagement to long-time girlfriend BC Jean, as well as a back injury which had already worried his fans about his ability to return to the dancing competition.
However, it seems that fans won’t need to worry for too long, as Mark Ballas teased them with an upcoming project that he won’t reveal details for as of yet. “I am looking forward to this new chapter and venture that is beginning shortly. I will soon have news for you all where to find me. I hope to see many of you there.”
This season of “Dancing With the Stars” promises to be full of interesting characters, with contestants including former Texas governor Rick Perry, Amber Rose, actress Marilu Henner, and US swimmer (as well as somewhat disgraced Olympic athlete) Ryan Lochte. One of the show’s most beloved dancers, Derek Hough, will also be returning for the season.
