Greek Police Officer Injured During Clash Between Refugees

chios-refugeesA Greek police officer had to be transferred to the local hospital to treat his injuries, when refugees at the Chios hotspot started clashing and throwing stones at each other.
The refugeesĀ complained about the quality of food in the camp. Later, the entrance of the facility was blocked and when the police asked them to return to their accommodations, the refugees started throwing stones.
One of the police officers that was involved in the incident left the scene with a face injuryĀ and was rushed to the hospital in order to receive first aid. Members of riot police later had to intervene in order to restore order in the hotspot.
“As long as these people remain trapped on the Greek island, we will continue to witness such incidents every day. The situation is tense and no one knows what is to come,” said a police officer from Chios.
