Wild Fire Breaks Out in Northern Evia

30-20073820160730_195807limnifwtia1200A fire has broken out in northern Evia in the Faraklas region, Greece.
Due to strong winds the fire has spread quickly and hampered the efforts of firefighters.
Local firefighters are battling the flames from the air and on the ground along with help from fire fighting forces from the region including Lamia, Karditsa, Andravida and Athens.
So far the fire has burned thousands of acres of pine forests, and as a precaution a hotel located near the sea and the Monastery Galataki have been evacuated.
The fire has brought together some 120 firefighters with 49 vehicles and 44 volunteers. Also, 30 military personnel have been on sight to battle the flames.
There is no word on injuries at this point and time.
