PM Tsipras to Visit Bulgarian Counterpart Borisov Monday to Discuss Energy and Transportation Plans

tsipras-44As Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras looks to fortify relations between the Greek government and it neighbors within the Balkan nations, he will be heading to Sophia, Bulgaria on Monday.
The purpose of his trip is to discuss mutually beneficial ventures on economy in energy and transport with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
The two countries have seen positive business developments in the recent past including the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) gas pipeline.
Greece and Bulgaria are also planning on creating a liquefied natural gas terminal near Alexandroupoli in northern Greece.
New ventures on the table that are up for discussion in further detail are tentative plans to create a railway linkage between Alexandroupoli and the Bulgarian Black Sea port of Varna.
Athens seeks to create a new “Balkan alliance” that would include not only Bulgaria, but other neighboring countries as well, such as Romania and Croatia, according to diplomatic sources, ekathimerini.com says.
