Eurobank Board Chairman Appointed Head of 'Hellenic Advisory Board'

karamouzis-xristos-708The South East European Studies at Oxford (SEESOX)at St Antony’s College at Oxford University, decided to establish a Hellenic Advisory Board appointing Nikolaos Karamouzis as chairman.
The Hellenic Advisory Board is part of a new Research Program called “The Greek Diaspora Studies Programme.” Karamouzis is Chairman of the Board of Eurobank Ergasias SA and Professor Emeritus at the University of Piraeus.
According to the official announcement, the Board will consist of prominent personalities, representatives of the largest Greek companies and institutions with an important role in the country’s economy.
The Greek Diaspora Studies Programme focuses on the interaction of the Greek Diaspora with Greece, at the time of the current economic crisis and a future Greece, after the economic recovery, in the context of globalization.
The aim of the Hellenic Advisory Board is to promote the activities and academic work of the program, both in Greece and the Greek diaspora and initiatives to ensure the financial resources of the Program through stable donors, helping to promote research around Greece and reinforcing the image of the country abroad. It will also act as a liaison between the research communities in SEESOX, Greece and the Greek diaspora.
The research program was presented for the first time in Greece in June 2015 by the Director of the Centre for European Studies and SEESOX, Othon Anastasakis, Professor of European Studies, Timothy Garton Ash and International Relations Professor and Chair of SEESOX, Kalypso Nicolaidis. A special event was organized at the initiative of Eurobank, with the participation of prominent players in the economic, business and academic communities who attended a discussion on the new geopolitical situation in Europe and Greece’s role, at a time of economic and political shifts.
SEESOX was established in 2002 at St Antony’s College, with the financial support of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its objective was research and promotion of Greece in the Balkan and European environment. The Centre for European Studies has contributed significantly to the study of South East Europe and its integration into the European family.
