Son of Energy Minister Arrested for Attacking Golden Dawn Office

newego_LARGE_t_1101_54700363The son of Environment and Energy Minister Panos Sourletis was among four people arrested for vandalizing a Golden Dawn office in Athens on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old Vassilis Skourletis was among a group of about 50 anarchists and leftists who demonstrated outside the office of the nationalist party in the suburb of Maroussi, then proceeded with vandalizing the premises.
When members of Golden Dawn appeared, the anarchists attacked them. However, riot police forces that were notified earlier intervened using stun bombs to disperse the crowd. In the skirmishes that followed, an anarchist was injured.
According to a parapolitika.gr, the young Skourletis was among the four people arrested. The four perpetrators face charges of dangerous bodily harm, destruction of property, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.
The four young men were taken to the prosecutor and then were released. The hearing is set for July 15.
Reportedly, the young student did not tell the arresting officers or during detention who his father is. Panos Skourletis did not visit his son in detention. According to the report, only his mother visited him at the police station and brought him an item of clothing.
