Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens to be Revealed on July 2

With the installment of external lighting which will bring out the best features of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, the restoration project of the church affected by earthquakes will be completed.
The Cathedral will reopen its gates in July 2, after several years since its last mass.
The installment of external lighting is the last task left, before the completion of the Cathedral’s restoration, static enforcement and conservation of decoration. Meanwhile, the cleaning and supplementation of floors in the pavement are taking place during this time, in order to correct any damages that occurred from the scaffolding.
As the head of the Τechnical Service of the Archbishopric of Athens, Theodoros Chamalis explained to ANA MPA, the sanctification of the restored church will take place on July 2. On July 3, a Holy Mass will take place, the first one in seven years.
