Publisher Killed After Porsche Bursts Into Flames on Attica Highway

BURNT
Tragedy struck at the Attica Highway in Athens on Thursday. Police pulled out the charred remains of Panayiotis Mavrikos, publisher of newspaper “Acropolis,” from his Porsche Cayenne.
Traffic CCTV footage shows the car moving along its lane towards Elefsina when the vehicle suddenly stops before bursting in flames. Eyewitnesses say that the driver was trapped in the car before it was enveloped in fire.
The car is registered in the name of the wife of the publisher, who was called to the hospital to identify his body.
Celebrity lawyer Alexis Kougias says that the body is that of his client who had been arrested in February after reportedly blackmailing public organizations, companies and banks. Mavrikos reportedly blackmailed public organization executives and bankers, threatening to kill family members. His newspaper, has often published unsubstantiated slanderous comments on politicians, public institution and company executives.
