Film DELOS 2015 Wins at Baku International Tourism Film Festival [video]

Baku DELOS 2015From its premier last October in Mykonos to the Baku International Tourism Film Festival, short film DELOS 2015 is making its mark.

This June the film received the Silver Award in the Ecotourism category at the Baku International Tourism Film Festival.

This is the second international reward that the film has earned. Previously, it won an Award of Merit and Special Mention by the organization Best Shorts in Southern California. DELOS 2015 was also selected to participate in the Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards 2016.

The short film lasts only 25 minutes, and in this time, the poetic documentary promotes the small island of Delos. Greek director Andonis Theocharis Kioukas says that the film was inspired by the pure essence of the “island of light,” Delos.

DELOS 2015 is narrated by the internationally recognized Greco-French actor George Chorraface, who served as the island’s first ‘ambassador for Delos in 2015. The film aims at expressing the unique attributes of this small island, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the largest archaeological site in Europe is found and where various cultures and inhabitants have created societies over a period of more than 3 millenniums. The island has been a symbol of social and religious tolerance and a sacred sanctuary inspiring the film to take on a journey to the center of existence, as Kiosks said.

The film came to fruition as a result of efforts and contributions from Myconian entrepreneurs and private donations under the Prefecture of the Southern Aegean, the department of Antiquities of the Cyclades and the Municipality of Mykonos.
