Man Who Shot at Greek Celebrity Hairdresser Was a Cop

KALLIRIS
The Greek Police captured three people involved in the attack against celebrity hair stylist Panos Kallitsis at his Lycabettus Hill home on Saturday, January 30. Two Greeks and a foreigner approached Kallitsis and shot at him before grabbing his bag with the day’s takings from his hair salon.
The hairdresser and his wife went to the police station and recognized one of the assailants. One of the Greeks involved was well-known to the police and had a criminal record. He committed the crime while on furlough leave from prison. The other Greek was a police man who, in the past, had been a member of the police motorcycle squad known as DIAS. The final member of the gang was a foreigner of Iraqi descent.
It has not yet been ascertained which of the three shot at Kallitsi, seriously injuring him. Nor is it known why a bag he had was left in the car.
The hair stylist’s sister said that the three attackers had waited in ambush at the outdoor parking lot of his home on his return from his hair salon on Kifissias Avenue. His wife was present at the shooting, however was only lightly injured.
Elena Christopoulou, Kallitsis’ wife, said that she was shocked that one of the three perpetrators was a police man. The couple did express satisfaction that the perpetrators were caught.
