“When tradition unites” was the title of the music and dancing event that took place in Mykonos on Saturday May 21. The event was a “meeting place” for the amateur dancing group of Mykonos “Oi Anemomyloi” and the students’ dorm dance group of Thessaloniki, during which the tradition of Mykonos came to life with dance and live music in the streets of Chora.
The dancers and musicians started around 7 pm from the area of Lakka, and divided into groups wandering the narrow streets of the traditional settlement of Agios Artemios and the windmills until the Metropolis, Matagianni and the Goumeniou square, where they moved towards the Mado Mavrogennous square and ended around 8 pm at the starting point.
At the port of Mykonos, the groups started a big revelry and with hundreds of viewers, danced to their passion for the Mykonian folklore tradition. On the same day a seminar on the traditional dances of Mykonos was offered at the highschool of the island.
