Nia Vardalos Makes Her Public Theater Debut

NiaVardalos

Nia Vardalos will be onstage later this year in her debut for the prestigious New York Public Theater company.

She will be playing the lead in an adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s “Tiny Beautiful Things”. Strayed was also the inspiration for the critically acclaimed film “Wild”, starring Reese Witherspoon.

“Tiny Beautiful Things” will run from November 15 to December 18. Vardalos will be directed by Thomas Kail, who has already made a splash on Broadway for his work directing the smash hit “Hamilton”.

Nabbing a spot in the Public Theater season is a very prestigious distinction for an actor; Tony winner Harvey Fierstein will also be appearing in the Public Theater’s season next March to April in “Gently Down the Stream”, as will Rachel Weisz and “House of Cards”‘ Corey Stoll in the play “Plenty”.
