The Panhellenic exams, the Greek university entrance exams began on Monday May 17th, with more than 100,000 senior high school students sitting down for their last and most crucial exams.
A total of 103,366 students will be taking the exams over the next few weeks in order to score a place at one of the state-run universities or technical colleges (TEI).
At the first course of the Panhellenic exams, which is a general exam, students were called to read a 500-word piece and later on develop an essay on the characteristics of friendship and how human relationships are affected by social media. The topic was “The characteristics of genuine friendship and the role of mass media, i.e. social media and the forming of genuine friendship.”
Almost 70,000 places in tertiary education are available this year.
