Lake Melissani in Cephalonia is amongst the most astonishing lakes in the world.
Melissani is one of the unique gulf-like lakes, which is also known as Melissani Cave. Melissani is 160 meters long and 40 meters wide. The waters are up to 39 meters deep. The stalactites in the cave are between 16,000 to 20,000 years old.
Touring the cave is done by boat. The journey starts from the uncovered part of the cave, which is lit by the rays of the sun creating vibrant turquoise reflections on the water. The whole experience serves as a worthwhile natural and serene environment to visit.
Journalist Petros Nazos created this exceptional video which navigates through the lake to give viewers a taste of the natural beauty of Melissani, which is sure to entice travelers to visit the location on their next vacation.
