Culture cuisine from Senegal, South Africa, Madagascar and Tanzania as well as others was evident as they displayed colorful and artistic traditional African dishes. Festival-goers could sample traditional African coffees and deserts as well. There was also live music with dancers and art and crafts for purchase. In all it was a true festival of African cultures.

Watoto Afrika’s Annual Spring Festival exemplifies the Swahili translation of the organization’s name, meaning “Children of Afrika.” The organization is made up of people from different parts of Africa who live in Greece and the goal for this event and others like it is to educate Greeks and others about the rich African culture and traditions.
This multicultural event is one of many Watoto Africa has participated in over the years since it was first established in 2013. It also helps promote other African arts and cultural events such as street dances, African dance workshops, as well as education initiatives for migrant and refugee children in Greece.
