SETE: Delays in the Program Evaluation Harm Greece's Tourist Season

The Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) is warning that if several conditions are not accomplished soon enough, this year’s tourist season might evolve negatively.
SETE says that as long as the program evaluation is being delayed and extended, the sentiment that Greece cannot provide stability and security is augmented, therefore damaging the Greek tourism and destinations. In addition, SETE highlights that the result of this delay leads the government to impose additional fees and charges, such as the VAT rise from 23% to 24%. However, it also leads in more charges, such as the rumored “fee for accommodations for overnight stay.”
SETE also highlights that Greece has created a series of tax counter-incentives both for the operation of tourist businesses as well as for the attraction of investments, while it has “frozen” any substantial actions that will support the country’s economy.
