Greeks of Montreal organized their annual Greek Independence Day parade and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau could not miss the event.

The popular Prime Minister, holding a Greek flag, greeted as many people as he could wishing everyone “Xronia Polla.”

For Trudeau it’s a tradition to attend the parade, but it was his first time as a Prime Minister.

“Participation was tremendous,” said Nicholas Pagonis, President of the Hellenic Community of Montreal, which organizes the parade. “The Prime Minister honoured us with his presence and many other dignitaries. We thank Montreal for being a part of us and we are a part of Montreal.”

The parade, which has been a tradition for more than 40 years attracted thousand of attendees to honor the 1821 revolution that ended 400 years of Ottoman rule for Greeks.
