Actress Vanessa Redgrave in Greece, Blasts at EU Governments on Refugee Crisis [video]

RedgraveActress and activist Vanessa Redgrave was in Athens on Wednesday where she blasted at European governments over the policy of closed borders to refugees.
Redgrave visited the makeshift refugee camp at Piraeus Port where close to 6,000 refugees and migrants are waiting to be transferred to refugee camps. The conditions for refugees at Greece’s largest port are appalling, while a fight between Syrians and Afghans on Wednesday night left eight injured.
The award-winning actress visited the Doctors Without Borders clinic at the port and spoke to many refugees and migrants, looking deeply touched by their drama. She kissed the hand of a migrant woman who has crying for help, listened carefully to a pregnant woman from Afghanistan and asked a Syrian young man to forgive her because she couldn’t do anything herself to help him.
“All I can do is speak with my friends and they can speak with their governments to help. I cannot help, I can only speak,” Redgrave said.
The actress criticized EU government for shutting their borders. “Shame on the European governments. These are human beings… I’m shocked,” she said.
