Tension broke out in Idomeni camp on Tuesday afternoon, between refugees and police forces who attempted to evacuate the train tracks that have been occupied by the refugees as a form of protest towards the neighboring Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). The refugees are demanding to be allowed passage through the borders.
According to ANA MPA, when the police tried to evacuate the tracks, the refugees and migrants “responded” by throwing rocks. There was a small clash when the police tried to detain a woman by putting her in a car, but the people who were gathered there managed to take her out.
Since the incident that occurred in the afternoon the situation has calmed. The refugees remain on the rail tracks and have installed a microphone system to keep everyone in the camp informed and send their message to Europe.
