EgyptAir Flight Hijacked; Lands on Cyprus

Cyprus_air1An Egyptian passenger plane that took off from Alexandria was hijacked and landed at Larnaca airport in Cyprus.
The hijacker who said he was strapped with explosives, turned out to be unarmed and is still holding seven people hostages.
Cyprus_airThe man said he did the hijacking because he wanted to get in touch with his ex wife, according to Cyprus’ RIK television.
The pilot of the EgyptAir Airbus 320 asked permission to land at Larnaca airport claiming a hijack while the plane was over Cyprus FIR.
1459234129500062The aircraft took off from the Alexandria airport around 8 am heading for Cairo with 81 people on board. The pilot requested permission to land at Larnaca airport, citing a hijacking which happened around 8:50 am.
