Haroula Rose Releases Anticipated New Album ‘Here the Blue River’

Haroula Rose
If you haven’t heard of Haroula Rose yet, you will definitely want to look up this rising new music star in the days to come. Her new album “Here the Blue River”, that impressed the editors at Marie Claire so much they called it “the most charming thing we’ve seen”, will be released tomorrow, March 25th!
To get a taste of her sound, check out the music video for “Moon and Waves”, a single off the album. The singer’s music is deep, haunting, and complex – in her own words, she sees “Moon and Waves” as “a song poem about looking at the world from a curious perspective and noticing how everything is interrelated and connected in some way.”
Then again, it makes sense that a woman with such creative experience writes beautiful, intriguing music, since the Chicago-born and LA-based musician has worn many hats.
Haroula worked as a filmmaker before transitioning into singing and songwriting. In the past year, Haroula released two EPs, many critically-acclaimed singles, and a debut album called “These Open Roads”. You may have even heard her music without knowing it, as she contributed music to “How I Met Your Mother”, “American Horror Story”, “Awkward”, “Still Alice”, and many other films and TV shows.
The drive that led to this strong creative output was first sparked during her upbringing in her Greek household. We asked Haroula about her influences, and she explained:
“I started listening to music as a child, and it was mostly Greek music since my parents immigrated to the States.  I think it made them feel more at home having the radio and songs playing all the time.  After being in bands and theater and choirs/a capella groups all throughout growing up I started singing for commercials.  And when I lived abroad in Madrid I made friends with some amazing musical and film artists.  It all led to this hunger for wanting to write my own songs and get them out there.”
So far, her hunger to write her own music has led to plenty of success, as the singer continues to rise in the music world and her songs always garner critical praise, as well as the respect of experienced insiders. The Nashville-based record label Thirty Tigers, which has released Grammy award winners Patty Griffin, Lucinda Williams, Jason Isbell, and others, is helping Haroula put out her new album, “Here the Blue River”.
Fans who want to see Haroula Rose perform live can catch up with her on tours coming up in April and May, covering most of the East Coast and Midwest. Check out Haroula’s website for more information.
As for the singer’s final thoughts on the process behind her album?
“They were inspired by meditation on personal experiences and thinking about life and death, some reading I was doing – I hope people take the time to get it and listen to it from beginning to end, for it feels like a journey.”
