More Than 50,000 Refugees and Migrants Currently in Greece

According to the latest count released by the Greek authorities on Monday March 21, the total of refugees and migrants that are currently in Greece has exceeded 50,000 people for the first time since the beginning of the crisis.
The new record number is 50,411 people with new arrivals still occurring one day after the EU-Turkey agreement on migration came into effect.
Despite the fact that the EU-Turkey agreement has been activated since Sunday March 20, the refugee and migrant flows from Turkey towards the Greek islands have not stopped. A total of 1,662 new people arrived in the last 24 hours, as 875 refugees arrived in Lesvos and the rest of the total was found in Samos, Chios, Kos, and Megisti.
More precisely, in Northern Greece there are 28,593 refugees and migrants, with the majority of the population being in Idomeni (13,250 people), 13,711 people in the Attica region and 2,569 people in Central Greece.
