Greece Files Complaint With Austria Over Meeting With Balkan States on Migration

austriaGreece has filed a formal complaint with Austria over its decision to call a meeting of Balkan states on the migrant crisis.
“Political Director of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Petros Mavroeidis, presented yesterday to Austrian Ambassador to Greece, Mrs. Andrea Ikić-Böhm, a demarche for the initiative of organizing in Vienna a conference of Ministers of Interior and Foreign Affairs of Austria and the Western Balkan States,” read the official statement issued by the Greek Ministry of the Exterior.
The foreign ministry called Austria’s initiative a “non friendly move” by Vienna. The move was a “unilateral and non-friendly act” towards Greece on a matter in which Athens had a direct interest, the foreign ministry said.
Respectively, a demarche was served by Greece’s Embassy in Vienna to the Austrian foreign ministry.
Vienna has invited Balkan states to a meeting on the migration crisis on Wednesday, following the country’s move to limit asylum applicants last week. Greece was excluded from the invitation.
