The Joint Declaration of February 11, 2014 remains the basis for negotiations in Cyprus, says Espen Barth Eide, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser in Cyprus.
In a message οn twitter, Eide refers to the text that was adopted two years ago, leading to the resumption of settlement talks on the island and says that it is worth reading again. He also provides a link to the text.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. UN-led talks, aiming to reunite the island under a federal roof, are underway.
