Greek Festival Showcases the 'Other Side' of Athens

festival-athensWhile walking around Athens, people might easily see the ‘dark side’ of the city. The crisis, the homeless, and the trash present in many street corners, don’t paint the greatest picture. However, 42 Greek artists decided to organize a festival that will showcase the brighter side of the Greek capital.
The festival, called “The Other Athens” is taking place February 5 – 7, and it will include photography and painting exhibitions, as well as poetry, short films, video art and dance events. The organizers’ slogan is “Athens we love you!” and their primary goal is to offer citizens “a few breaks of tranquility and beauty,” helping them face their daily struggles.
“It will be hard to believe that all the pictures included in the exhibition were actually taken in this city,” noted the artists involved in the project.
The festival’s schedule includes film showcases such as “Quilombo Athens Pride”, “Athens Flash Mob” and “Home”, as well as dance performances by artists such as Vathi Maria and Katerina Klirodeti.
Admission to all festival events is free.
