Migration Deputy Admits Greece's Expulsion from Schengen Zone Is Possible

metanastes-prosfyges-peiraiaw-735x400Deputy Migration Minister Yiannis Mouzalas admitted on Friday that Greece is in real danger of being expelled from the Schengen zone.
“It can be seen happening that Greece is expelled from the Schengen Agreement, there are such talks behind closed doors,” Mouzalas said on Mega television on Friday morning.
“Shouldn’t that make us worry? Europe is facing a split that goes beyond political parties, and I am worried about the threats of the Europeans,” he said.
The deputy minister also confirmed reports that the European Commission has given Greece three months to comply in protecting its borders better and stem the migrant inflows.
Mouzalas repeated the outrageous proposal of Belgian Interior Minister Jan Jambon to expel Greece from Schengen, build “a camp to host 300,000-400,000 migrants in the country and redirect refugees back to Turkey by sea.
“What do you do with those refugees? Do you drown them? It is a criminal offense!” the deputy minister wondered aloud.
Regarding Greece’s delay to establish the refugee registration centers (hotspots) it has agreed on, Mouzalas said that all pertinent ministries should extend their support. “The Defense Ministry is helping, but it should help more, everyone should offer more help,” he said.
Mouzalas also said that he will meet with the leaders of New Democracy, PASOK and Potami to brief them on the rapid developments and the seriousness of the situation.
