Plans Under Way for Migrant Refugee Camps in Greece’s Two Major Cities

Refugee CampsA few days ago Belgium called for 300,000 refugee camps to be built in Greece. Now Greek Minister of Immigration Policy Giannis Mouzalas says plans are under way for a refugee camp to be built near Athens that can accommodate as many as 2000 people. He stressed, however, that the camp will serve as very short accommodation, not as a permanent home.
A similar camp will also be built in Thessaloniki, Greece’s second largest city, and Greek Minister Mouzalas said he already had discussions with the city’s mayor.
Speaking on SKAI TV, Mouzalas pointed out that an effective solution to the refugee crisis involves the immediate registration of all refugees arriving in Greece from Turkey, thereby allowing authorities to distinguish refugees from migrants. This is Greece’s proposal to the solution of the refugee crisis, but in order to be implemented there must be political will on the part of Europe, said Minister Mouzalas.
