A formation of four Turkish jet fighters violated Greece’s national air space in the northeastern Aegean on Thursday, Greek defense ministry officials said.
The Turkish jets entered Greece’s national air space on three occasions, Greek authorities said, adding that two of the aircraft were armed and that one dogfight occurred. In all cases the Turkish warcraft were chased off by Greek aircraft.
Turkish jets have entered into Greek air space on several occasions since early December following a minor diplomatic quarrel between the two neighboring countries, following a message on Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ Twitter account accusing Ankara of conducting repeated transgressions in the Aegean.
