Greek Minister Wants to Ensure Crucial Security Reforms Bill Passes

katrou708_4Greek Labor Minister Giorgos Katrougalos is to brief today, January 4, the President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos and political party leaders on the final proposal on the security fund reforms bill.
On January 18th, the final round of negotiations with the heads of Greece’s international lenders will commence. The bill will be tabled in parliament January 20-25 and will be voted on in the beginning of February.
Katrougalos will meet with political leaders individually, starting with New Democracy interim president Yiannis Plakiotakis at 11 am. At 6 pm he will meet with the president of the republic to present the proposed bill. The labor minister’s aim is to gain the support of opposition parties and generate new alliances for the crucial vote.
The labor minister will also try to generate support outside of Greece as well. He is planning a trip to Europe to discuss with European Union counterparts. At the end of the week he will be visiting Berlin, while January 14-16 he will be in Paris for discussions.
Regarding Greece’s commitment to implement the reforms required by the bailout program, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras spoke to Real News newspaper saying that, “We will honor the agreement to a T, however we will not succumb to illogical and unfair demands.”
