Greek PM to Turkish PM: Fortunately Our Pilots are Not as Mercurial as Yours Against the Russians

tis-708A tweet sent by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu was criticized by mass media and the Turkish PM.
“Fortunately our pilots are not as mercurial as yours against the Russians”, Tsipras wrote on Twitter. Tsipras was referring to the violations of Greek airspace by Turkish jet fighters, which is happening often over the Aegean Sea.
The comment was made in light of the recent downing of a Russian jet fighter by Turkish warplanes and caused a diplomatic episode between the two countries.
atsipras1The Greek PM added three tweets with his concern over the dozens of refugees who drown trying to cross the dangerous waters between the Turkish coasts and Greek islands. He also referred to the plight of human traffickers.
The Turkish prime minister replied that this is not the time, nor the place for such comments. Davutoglu suggested that it is better to maintain a positive outlook after Sunday’s summit between Turkey and European Union leaders.
Later Tsipras removed the tweets from his English account on Twitter, but left them on his Greek account.
