Turkish authorities on Thursday deported a 40-year-old Greek Muslim from Thrace back to Greece, claiming that he had been on his way to Syria in “order to join in the fighting”.
The 40-year-old, who was arrested in Turkey on Wednesday and is not wanted on any charge in Greece, was handed over to Greek authorities at the Kipoi border crossing in Evros.
The Greek Intelligence Service EYP and counter-terrorism squad have launched an investigation into the claims made by Turkish authorities.
