Greek Parliament Ratifies the Bank Recapitalization Legislation

parliamentThe Greek Parliament ratified the legislation that outlines the changes in Greece’s banking sector as well as the process of the anticipated recapitalization of the country’s banks, on Saturday.
The vast majority of the parliament supported the legislation, with SYRIZA, ANEL, New Democracy, the Democratic Coalition, ‘To Potami’ and the Union of Centrists parties voting in favor. The Greek Communist Party (KKE) and Golden Dawn were the only two parties to vote against it.
Earlier on Saturday, the European Central Bank released its comprehensive assessment of the Greek banks, which concluded that the four systemic banks of Greece need 4.4 billion euros in the basic scenario and 14.4 billion euros in the adverse scenario, to cover their capital shortfalls.
