Greek PM Meets With Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at Maximou Palace on Monday.
Both men expressed the opinion that the only way to bridge differences in any realm is through dialogue.
Tsipras spoke about the crises that Greece faces, namely the recession and the refugee crisis and he added that he wants the country to be part of the solution and not a part of the problem in these crises.
“That is why we look on and await the efforts of the Ecumenical Patriarchy, who, with his ecumenical point of view, has the power to promote positions that are humanitarian,” he said.
Bartholomew congratulated Tsipras on his electoral victory and expressed the Church’s support for the prime minister’s efforts in bettering Greek lives.
