Greek Economy Minister Admits He Did Not Declare 1 Mln Euros of Income in 2012

StathakisGreek Economy Minister Giorgos Stathakis confirmed that he is the Greek minister who did not report one million euros of income to the parliamentary Audit Committee for the Declarations of Assets, which examines the sources of income for each Greek MP.
Allegations had surfaced on Wednesday that Stathakis was indeed the minister in question, Stathakis told AN-MPA on Thursday that he had filed a report to the Audit Committee in 2012 that was “premature and possibly incomplete”. He claimed however, that the same reports in 2013 and 2014 was complete and included the one million euros.
“Even though the issue has been resolved with the two reports, following my ministerial appointment I thought it was useful, to submit an additional report in March 2015 that concerns exclusively the one from 2012 and simply repeats the figures I had already submitted since 2013,” Stathakis said.
The minister concluded by arguing that as a result he has not hidden anything and his tax reports are complete and at the disposal of the Audit Committee.
