4.5 Richter Earthquake Shakes Greek Island of Crete

earthquake-lasithiAn earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale was recorded at 5:16 am in the marine area south-southeast of Lasithi in Crete, noted the National Observatories’ Athens Institute of Geodynamics.
The tremor’s epicenter was detected 64 kilometers south-southeast of Zakros in Lasithi and its focal depth was estimated at 12.2 kilometers.
On Sunday, October 11, there was another tremor which only measured 3.6 degrees on the Richter scale with its epicenter at 99 km south of Lasithi and a focal depth of 10 km. Four other vibrations measuring between 2.8 and 3.3 on the Richter scale were recorded earlier in the same marine area.
