Greek Opera Opens Theatre Circle in the Cultural Capital of Europe

Wroclaw_1The opera “Insenso,” written by Dimitris Dimitriadis, and directed by Peter Sevastikoglou, will open the theatre circle for Wroclaw, Poland, January 15, 2016. Wroclaw is considered the cultural capital of Europe.

In the theater of the renovated old train station in Wroclaw, Alexandra Kazazou will perform the monologue of Countess Livia Serpieri on love and passion that led to humiliation and triple betrayal of country, social class and love.

“For Dimitriadis, as for many people, love is one of the most revolutionary elements of life, one of those that shake our inner world. I think that the work indirectly has to do with what we are experiencing today, our effort to overcome what we take for granted, and try something that we do not dare,” Sevastikoglou explained.

The opera is in Greek, but subtitles will be provided. There is no music as it is based on the musicality of the text that the author himself has called a “silent opera.”
