French Finance Minister Emphasizes Greek Bailout Implementation Ahead of Eurogroup

Michel SapinFrench Finance Minister Michael Sapin expressed what many international officials have stated in the past with regards to the connection between the Greek debt and the Greek bailout.
Prior to Monday’s Eurogroup meeting, Sapin noted that Greece must proceed with implementing the prescribed agreements included in the bailout program that was signed in August. The French Finance Minister added that once this happens, negotiations on some type of debt easing for Greece can commence, Bloomberg reports.
“We’ll be taking the temperature of the new government,” Sapin is quoted as saying prior to Monday’s Eurogroup meeting. “We want to see its determination to meet commitments under the July agreement and within the right timeframe.”
On Friday, a list surfaced that contained 48 alleged prior actions that the Greek parliament must ratify by October 15 if it is to receive an additional 2 billion euros of bailout funds. These purported requirements are expected to be officially presented to the Eurozone’s Finance Ministers during Monday’s Eurogroup.
