Greek Ministry of Culture Anticipates Full Documentation of Amphipolis' Recent Findings

Amfipolis Tomb
On the occasion of the continuous conflict regarding the ancient Greek tomb that was unearthed last year in Amphipolis, and after the new controversial claims of Katerina Peristeri, the Greek archaeologist who is in charge of the excavation in the area, the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports issued a statement on Friday pointing out that it anticipates receiving full documentation of all the relevant archaeological findings so far.
Through its press release, the Greek Ministry of Culture reassured that all the competent departments have already been assigned to apply a sequence of interim measures that aim to ensure the long-term protection of the Kasta Hill’s monument.
The initial work will focus on securing the hill-tumulus slopes, as well as on the maintenance of the sculptures, mosaics and painted decoration. Under the overall coordination of the General Directorate for the Restoration, Museums and Technical Works and after multiple autopsies and partnerships, all problems will be recorded and appropriate solutions will be designed.
