Betty White may not seem threatening, but in cyberspace it’s a different story; she was just listed as one of the most dangerous celebrities on the Intel Security Most Dangerous Celebrities of 2015.
Intel releases an annual list of the celebrity searches most likely to damage your computer, and thanks to her popularity, Betty White ranked near the top.
So what could happen if you search for the comedienne?
According to Michael Kaiser, executive director of the National Cyber Security Alliance, “here’s what makes them dangerous: The bad guys use social engineering to get people to go to websites, to click links, to download things they shouldn’t.”
Other celebrities that ranked in the top ten on the list include Britney Spears. Armin van Buuren and Amy Schumer.
For fans, this just means that next time you are looking for news and updates on your favorite octogenarian celebrity, be careful to only click links from legitimate, recognized sources (or just check the Greek Reporter Hollywood section).
