Video: Cypus President Anastasiades Meets with VP Joe Biden in New York

Cyprus President Anastasiades Meets US VP Joe Biden on September 29, 2015Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades met with the Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden, on Tuesday afternoon in New York during the United Nations General Assembly annual General Debate.
The meeting reportedly lasted for 25 minutes and was held in good spirits. Anastiades and Biden, who had visited Cyprus in May 2014, discussed the 41 year old Cyprus Problem and the ongoing negotiations on the issue.
United Nations-lead negotiations between Cyprus and Turkish Cyprus have recommenced since May 2015. Anastasiades and his Turkish Cypriot counterpart Mustafa Akinci have reported the positive development of the peace talks so far.
During his trip to New york, President Anastasiades referred to the ongoing settlement talks in Cyprus, acknowledging that there is progress in some areas, while there are also problems.

Anastasiades had also met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in New York on Monday. The Cypriot President said that the two officials had discussed Russia’s potential role in the peace talks.
Anastasiades will address the United Nations General Assembly later on Tuesday.
