Father of Golden Dawn Murder Victim Claims Premeditation

pateras-fisa-708The father of murdered rapper Pavlos Fyssas on Tuesday testified in court claiming that his son’s slaying by Golden Dawn member Giorgos Roupakias was premeditated and the perpetrator had received orders from the party leadership.
Panagiotis Fyssas testified as a witness for the prosecution saying that the stabbing was professional and that Roupakias had planned the attack in advance. He said that the killer’s motive was to silence his rapper son because his lyrics spoke against fascism and Golden Dawn.
The leadership of Golden Dawn is on trial on charges of forming and running a criminal organization. Panagiotis Fyssas testified as the first prosecution witness before the three-member Felonies Appeal Court.
“At the hospital where they carried Pavlos, I asked the doctor if the death was due to the ambulance delay. He replied that the hit was professional. [Roupakias] stabbed him and turned the knife so that the blood flowed inside. My child survived for four minutes and managed to point to the murderer. He told police: He’s the one who killed me,” Fyssas said.
“This organization is shutting the mouths of those who oppose them. They were bothered by Pavlos’ songs that were against fascism,” he further said.
Fyssas said Roupakias killed his son after he received orders from party leader Nikos Michaloliakos. “They don’t do anything without receiving an order. They need an order to get up from their chair,” he said.
The father of the victim reinforced his point by saying that Golden Dawn chief Michaloliakos said on Greek radio that he accepts political responsibility, but not criminal responsibility for Fyssas’ death.
Earlier Roupakias claimed that he accepts the charges of manslaughter but not the charges that he belongs to a criminal organization. His defense attorney claimed the stabbing of Fyssas was done in self-defense asking charges of voluntary manslaughter to be reversed to charges of involuntary manslaughter or of causing fatal injury.
